Anvil, Hammers, and Forge
Anvil |
We use a very old Fisher Norris Anvil as our primary anvil. It has seen a lot of use over the years but it is still going strong. We also use a few other anvils around the shop for specific purposes, for example we use an old railroad track section for cutting metal. This keeps our primary anvil from taking unnecessary damage.
Blacksmithing Hammers
This is the "Hammer-stand" where we keep most of our working hammers. There are a range of cross peen, straight peen, ball-peen, and other hammers that we use on a regular basis.
Our "Hammer-stand" is made from 2x4s with metal rods connected across the top of each section to hold the hammers. It is very effective and holds the hammers so that they are easy to find and use. There are heavy duty wheels on the bottom to allow the stand to be easily moved around the shop as needed.
Tomahawk drifting station
We use an iron pipe attached to an old oak stump as a drifting station to drift the eye for each tomahawk.
